CAMERA VIDEO: It didn't begin on October 7

Hamas launched the current war with its massacre of innocents on October 7.

But that's not when the conflict began. Watch now

Wall Street Journal and the sentiment not reported

UPDATE: A Wall Street Journal photo caption read: "An anti-Israel billboard in Tehran’s Enghelab Square on Saturday depicted Iran’s missile attack on Israel earlier this month and the sentiment, 'If you want war, we are the master of war.'" That was indeed the translation of the Persian text on the billboard. What the Journal left out, however, is the message of Hebrew text on the same billboard: "Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth and that is just the beginning of the story."

After repeated communication from CAMERA, editors finally agreed to correct the record. Read more

BBC report fails to substantiate
allegation made in its headline

A headline from the BBC declared: "Israeli construction along buffer zone with Syria violates ceasefire, UN says." But the ensuing report, credited to no fewer than five BBC staffers, failed to provide any factual evidence to the sensationalist claim that Israel is "violating" the 50-year-old ceasefire agreement in the Golan. Read more

Deutsche Welle corrects misreporting on
UN's partial findings regarding Gaza fatalities

A Deutsche Welle headline blared, "UN: Nearly 70% of Gaza war dead are women, children." But neither the UN nor the DW report made that dramatic claim. That "nearly 70%" narrowly referred to the number of verified deaths during the first six months of the war (8,119) out of the total to date—which Hamas claims is 43,000. CAMERA prompted DW to correct the error. Read more

BBC South reporter uncritically
promotes questionable Gaza allegations

The BBC's Marcus White uncritically promoted claims by surgeon Nizam Mamode that Israeli drones deliberately and persistently targeted children and Gaza. White leaves out that experts have already found that Mamode's chilling claims don't stand up to scrutiny. Read more

What the Amsterdam pogrom tells us

"As the late Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel famously said, 'We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.'

The time for silence and all of its complicity is over."

Indy corrects on Gaza casualty claim

The Independent's Josh Marcus told readers that Israel's current conflict with Hamas "has likely killed tens of thousands of people, largely Palestinian women and children." But Marcus's source links to a UN report which narrowly relates to the number of "verified" dead, which, at 8,119, only represents a fraction of the overall alleged Gaza death toll. Following complaint from CAMERA UK, editors corrected the error. Read more

BBC News promotes the 'Hezbollah wings' myth yet again

The BBC continues to promote the false notion of the existence of different "wings" (such as "political" and "military") of Hezbollah, which it still refers to as a "militant group" despite the fact that the UK and many other countries proscribe it as a terror organization. Hezbollah leaders themselves have denied the existence of separate "wings." Read more

Indy corrects on Gaza casualty claim

"In this twisted tale of gross professional malpractice, a journalist cripples the power of facts, rehabilitating the image of a physician who clamors for the maiming of innocent children." Read more from CAMERA's Tamar Sternthal in Israel HaYom
